4 Session Workshops Series
Constructing the Innocent Classroom is a four-session child-specific approach to a diverse classroom. You will learn context and practical strategies for building relationships with every child, especially children of color and indigenous children, in your classroom. Through real-world examples and conversations, you will learn how to build relationships that dismantle racial bias and undermine the negative effects of stereotypes, low expectations, and implicit bias in teacher child relationships.
Event Timelines
Workshop One. Understanding:
Educators examine innocence, guilt, good, and the way race and epistemology. affect our children.
Workshop Two. Recognizing & Valuing:
Educators recognize the good in children of color and understand how guilt affects each child individually.
Workshop Three. Engaging:
Educators construct an environment that engages the innocence of each child in their classrooms.
Workshop Four. Nurturing & Protecting:
Educators sustain innocence in our dynamic and fast-paced culture.
